So today’s podcast is the first of a series of three that I’ll be doing on the Olympics.

To begin with, let’s read some fun facts about the Olympics.

Have you ever heard of these five fun facts about the Olympic Games?

1. From 1912 to 1948, drawing was an Olympic event.
从1912年到1948年，绘画是奥运会的一项比赛项目。
2. The 2012 London Olympics was the first Olympics where every country had a female athlete.
2012年伦敦奥运会，是第一次每一个国家都有女运动员参赛的奥运会。
3. Olympic gold medals are 92.5% silver. The Olympic standards only require gold medals to contain 6 grams of gold.
奥林匹克金牌有92.5%的银，奥运会标准是金牌只需镀6克金。
4. The colours of the five Olympic rings were chosen as blue, yellow, red, green and black, because every country’s flag has at least one of these colours.

5. The 2016 Rio Olympics will the be first Olympics ever held in South America.
