The Han army leader Liu BoWen came up with a cunning idea. He started a rumour that there was a deadly disease spreading across the country and that the only way to protect yourself was to eat special mooncakes. Many Han people bought the mooncakes and inside, they found a secret message on a piece of paper. The message told them to join in the Han uprising on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month.
