Today, we're going to look at some must-know expressions for any English student.
今天我们来看看一些英语学生必知的问句。
When you're learning English, you often need help with your vocabulary.
当你学英语时，常会在词汇方面需要一些帮助。
Now if you want to ask someone how to say a word, please DON'T say "How to say this word in English?"
那么要是你想问别人某个字怎么说，别说 “How to say this word in English?"
This is Chinglish, it's incorrect but I hear it all the time in China.
这是中式英文, 是不正确的说法，但是我在中国经常听到大家这么说
The correct way to ask is:
正确的问法是：
How DO YOU say this word in English?
The "you" in this sentence means "everyone" - not "you" like the one person you are talking to.
这个句子里面的 "you" 是英文里的大众的 "you"，就是"你们大家"的意思 －不是指跟你对话那一个人的 "you"
What if you don't know how to spell a word?
要是你不会拼写一个单词呢？
You should ask:
你应该问:
How DO YOU spell this word?
Lastly, if you can't think of a word you want to say, you can say:
what's the word...
最后一点，要是你在跟别人对话时一下子想不起来某个字怎么说了，你可以说 "what's the word".
A: I wanted to buy some medicine yesterday so I went to the... oh, what's the word?
A: 我昨天想买点药，所以我去了... 哎呀，哪个字怎么说呢?
B: The pharmacy?
B: 药房?
A: Yes, thank you! I went to the pharmacy!
A: 是的，谢谢! 我去了药房!
