Every branch big with it, （1）
大枝胖，
Bent every twig with it; （2）
小枝弯。
Every fork like a white web-foot; （3）
树丫恰如白玉掌，
Every street and pavement mute: （4）
街巷寂寥冬日长。
Some flakes have lost their way, and grope back upward, When（5）
花儿迷茫且恁往上飘，
Meeting those meandering down, they turn and descend again. （6）
无奈下返半空遇袅袅。
The palings are glued together like a wall. （7）
围篱冻，似堵墙；
And there is not waft of wind with the fleecy fall. （8）
风不动，绒飞扬。
A sparrow enters the tree, （9）
一只麻雀入树来，
whereon immediately. （10）
轻盈迅捷好丰采。
A snow lump thrice its own slight size，（11）
天降雪坨三倍大，
Descends on him and showers his head and eyes. （12）
将他没头没脑砸。
And overturns him. （13）
鸟身翻，
And near inurns him, （14）
个中掩；
And lights on a nether twig, when its brush. （15）
滚滚落中又一枝，
Starts off a volley of other lodging lump with a rush. （16）
噗噗箭飞如雨急。
The steps are a blanched slope, （17）
砌下一地白玉兰，
Up which, with feeble hope, （18）
引来黑猫似茫然。
A black cat comes, wide-eyed and thin, （19）
眼大身小，
And we take him in. （20）
且纳笑。
