I Died for Beauty
我为美而死
I died for beauty -- but was scarce
adjusted in the tomb
我为美而死——
却尚未适应坟墓的拘狭
When one who died for truth, was lain
in an adjoining room --
当有个人为真理而死
躺在隔壁的墓室——
He questioned softly why I failed?
"For beauty", I replied --
他轻声问我,因何败殁?
“美”,我回答——
"And I -- for truth -- themself are one --
we brethren, are", he said --
“我——为真理——二者是一物
我们,是兄弟”,他说——
And so, as kinsmen, met a night --
We talked between the rooms --
于是,像亲人,在黑夜相遇
我们隔墙交谈——
Until the moss had reached our lips --
And covered up -- our names --
直到苔藓爬上我们的嘴唇——
淹没——我们的名字——
