介绍:
German student Jorg, who graduated from Zhenjiang University, has spent nearly 100 days riding 5,800 kilometers to explore what exactly the Chinese Dream is among ordinary people. Jorg, whose Chinese name is Yue Kaihan, studied Chinese culture, politics, economics and history at the university from 2015 to 2017. He said that his main goal was to ask average people he met on the road about their Chinese dreams for his graduation thesis for his Master’s degree. The concept of the Chinese Dream was put forward in 2013 with a goal of building a moderately prosperous society and realizing national rejuvenation. Yue was curious about the Chinese dreams of ordinary people from different backgrounds and different ages. Thinking that a thousand people may have a thousand different Chinese dreams, Yue set off on his great journey in May 2016. His trip saw the young man cover various cities, historic sites and small towns across 12 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, from the northernmost city of Mohe to the southernmost city of Sanya. At the end of his journey, Yue documented what he saw in a long essay which he named Ordinary People’s Chinese Dreams. “Everyone has a different Chinese Dream,” he said. “Urban-rural difference is obvious, with people in the countryside preferring a peaceful life while urban residents striving for more achievements, but they all share the positive attitude towards pursuing a dream.”
