The world’s highest indoor waterfall is to be built at the coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong Province. And it is due to open to the public in 2020.
While the Eden in Britain is a landlocked project, its Chinese one will be themed around water.
The site is a large area of damaged land originally used for salt production and is at the junction of two rivers. The city itself is surrounded by the sea on three sides.
It will be one large biome and a series of streams and lakes. The waterfall will be 50 meters – the height of Niagara Falls.
Eden says that it will open attractions on all continents except Antarctica.
David Harland, chief executive of Eden Project International, said, “This is a huge development in the history of the Eden Project and the biggest step we have yet taken towards opening an Eden Project in China.”
The Eden Project is a wonderful showcase for ecological British gardening, innovation and design. It is one of the biggest and greenest attractions in Britain. It also works as an educational charity. Every day, they entertain school, college and university visitors, offering adult and teacher training and development as well.
