A Spanish police dog called Poncho is taking the Internet by storm with his amazing lifesaving skills.
Poncho has been trained to perform CPR, which is an important lifesaving first aid technique, and can be carried out when a person’s heart stops beating. In the video, a police officer pretends to fall down on the ground. Poncho, who wears a flashing blue police light, runs to the seemingly lifeless officer. The dog jumps repeatedly on the officer’s chest with all his strength, and then places his ear into the officer’s neck in an apparent attempt to check whether he is breathing.
The police dog continues to “save” the officer until he finally gets up and gives his partner a good treat.
Poncho was praised for the heroic life-saving deed and didn’t hesitate for a moment to save the life of the officer.
Millions of people die from cardiac arrest each year. However, if performed correctly, CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of living.
