It’s Thanksgiving!感恩节来了!
Thanksgiving is coming! It’s time for turkey. The parade (游行) is about to start. Families gather around the table. And everyone wants to get the wishbone (许愿骨)! This is a big festival in the US. It is on the fourth Thursday of November. This year, it falls on Nov 26. People in Canada also celebrate Thanksgiving. It is on the second Monday in October.
What a feast! 吃大餐
Turkey is a traditional (传统的) dish. So Thanksgiving is also called Turkey Day. People stuff (塞满) the turkey with food like mashed potatoes (土豆泥) and bread. The most popular Thanksgiving dessert is pumpkin pie.
The wishbone 许愿骨
The wishbone is a V-shaped (V型的) bone. It is in the turkey’s chest (胸). Kids often get it. Two kids take each end of the bone. They make a wish and pull the bone. If a kid gets the bigger part, the kid will get his or her wish. It’s like our lucky coin (硬币) in the dumpling.

Look! A pig is flying. It is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It’s famous for big cartoon character (卡通人物) balloons.

Time for giving 献爱心
Thanksgiving is a time for giving (给予). Some people give a thanksgiving basket to the poor. There are meals or snacks (小吃) in the basket.

Turkey pardon 总统赦免火鸡
Every Thanksgiving, American people eat more than 45 million turkeys. But some turkeys are lucky. The US president pardons (赦免) a turkey every year. People will not eat this turkey. It will stay and live on a farm.

A tree of thanks 感恩树
Thanksgiving is a day to show thanks. Some families make a thankful tree. They cut a tree branch (树干) and leaves out of paper. Each person writes thankful words on a leaf. Then, they glue (粘) the tree on a wall.
