A Part-time Job I Have Done
[00:11.00]This summer,
[00:13.33]I worked as an English tutor in a family.
[00:16.43]My student is a boy in the seventh grade,
[00:19.59]clever but uninterested in English.
[00:22.71]It is an interesting job,
[00:25.00]but with quite some challenges.
[00:27.05]The first problem I had to solve
[00:29.82]was how to improve the child&`&s learning enthusiasm.
[00:33.53]I tried to use pictures, stories and prizes to stimulate his interest,
[00:39.40]which turned out to work well.
[00:41.66]The second challenge was to improve his poor listening.
[00:46.28]I found some interesting English cartoons and watched them with him
[00:51.81]for half an hour every day.
[00:53.59]After a month, he was able to understand 70% of the speech in the cartoons.
[00:59.78]It is a great joy to see my own efforts bear fruit.
[01:03.57]And I&`&ve also learnt from this experience
[01:06.09]that being a good teacher also requires a sense of humor
[01:10.29]and teaching skills besides knowledge.
[01:13.37]I become more determined to dedicate myself to this meaningful career
[01:18.10]in the future.
