On Celebrities Accepted by Universities
[00:12.56]Nowadays, it is no surprise to find out
[00:17.42]that you enter the same university with a celebrity.
[00:20.58]Many colleges and universities in China are more than happy
[00:25.80]to enroll a film star or a sports star.
[00:28.79]Heated discussion has been generated by this phenomenon.
[00:32.94]It is held by some people that colleges and universities should take the lead
[00:38.97]in providing equal opportunities for each candidate
[00:42.40]and therefore no exception should be made on celebrities.
[00:47.27]However, others disagree with the view mentioned above.
[00:52.13]They argue that celebrities like film stars or sports stars,
[00:58.00]who contribute to our society in one way or another,
[01:01.45]deserve a more tolerant attitude
[01:04.89]and therefore a more flexible policy on their further education.
[01:09.99]As far as I am concerned,
[01:12.48]the current practice with regards to celebrities' admission to universities
[01:17.71]should be improved and made more transparent.
[01:21.13]For instance, it is feasible to require celebrities to pass tests
[01:26.60]with equal importance to the national entrance examination before admission.
