China has issued an energy strategy with a long list of targets leading up to the year 2020.
The Energy Development Strategy Action Plan for 2014 to 2020 promises a cap on annual primary energy consumption set at 4.8 billion tonnes of standard coal equivalent until 2020.
The plan also says that the share of non-fossil fuels, natural gas, and renewable energy will increase along with more new nuclear power plants in the eastern coastal areas of China.
The strategy comes as the country hopes to build and maintain a modern energy structure.
For more on this, we are joined on the phone by Alvin Lin, China Climate and Energy Policy Director.
