介绍:
(African volunteer promoting books) For the first time, foreign volunteers have been invited to the fair to promote the books. Although most of the visitors to the fair are still Chinese, the organizers say they're trying their best to build it into an international event. Guo Jingyang is the Book Fair Office's Assistant Director. Ms. Guo says as Shanghai is an international metropolitan city, the Shanghai Book Fair should be an international one as well. She goes on to say the International Literary Week, which is part of the book fair, has invited foreign writers and guests. Nobel Prize winner V.S. Naipaul, American Laureate Poet Robert Hass, along with 8 other world-renowned writers and poets have been invited to give talks and take part in forum discussions in Shanghai. Carolina Ballester is the International Program Manager of the book fair. Ballester admits there's still a lot to improve. The push toward making the National book fair more "international" seems to be sitting well with those attending this year's event. Xixi is a young professional working for a Swiss organiztion in Shanghai. She says organizers have been thinking of the need for readers to be provided with different kinds of activities, which themselves are becoming more international. The annual Shanghai Book Fair will have more than 150,000 books on display over the next 7-days. For CRI, this is Yunfeng in Shanghai.
