An international Buddhist Forum is scheduled to open in the eastern Chinese city of Wuxi in October.
With the theme "exchange with common aspiration", the World Buddhist Forum is the fourth in a row and is aimed at discussing the positive role of Buddhist thought in solving the problems that affect the lives and development of human beings.
Jiang Jianyong, vice chairman of the China Religious Culture Communication Association, hopes the activities at the forum will highlight Buddhism's impact on promoting economic development, social harmony and cultural prosperity.
The grand event has played a significant role in the history of Buddhism in China, which has been developing for more than two thousand years.
World Buddhist Forum n. 世界佛教论坛 由两岸三地佛教界发起，宗旨是为世界佛教徒搭建一个交流、合作、对话的高层次平台，为中华佛教界提供一个宽阔的大有作为的舞台，更为海峡两岸佛教交流提供良好契机。首届“世界佛教论坛”于2006年4月13日至16日在浙江省杭州市和舟山市举行。此后每三年举办一届。今年10月将在江苏无锡开幕的是第四届。
