SHANGHAI DAILY 上海日报 Headline Suspect spends 10 years in jail but still no verdict Summary A murder suspect in Henan has spent 10 years in detention because local courts have been unable to deliver a final verdict. The 37-year-old suspect was given a suspended death sentence in 2005. He then filed an appeal, claiming he had been tortured by police to make a confession. The higher court in the province had overturned the ruling three times, however the local court had insisted he was guilty after two retrials. Local prosecutors finally dropped the case due to lack of evidence in 2013.
