介绍:
For the past few years, the Beijing International Film Festival has steadily gained prominence in the global film industry. This year, the event will take place from April 16th to the 23rd. Doris Wang attended the press conference for this year's event and has the following story. With cutbacks on live artistic performances and increase in film screenings, the fourth annual Beijing International Film Festival promises to be simple but elegant. At a press conference on February 26th, the organizers announced the festival will focus on promoting Chinese films and culture while improving the event's quality and standards. Wang Liping, deputy secretary general of the Organizing Committee, says the festival is a platform of discussion for filmmakers around the world. "The Beijing International Film Festival hopes filmmakers will have an opportunity to interact with each other and work together to contribute to the future of the film industry". There will be seven key events held over the course of the festival including the Tiantan Awards, Beijing Film Panorama, and the Forum on Film Magic among others. Kicking off the event will be the opening ceremony, held on April 16th at the National Center for Performing Arts. The ceremony is expected to be studded with Chinese and international celebrities. Films will be screened in over 30 cinemas across the city from April 16th to April 24th. The focus will be on films that have been recognized in world-famous film festivals over the past two years and those that have yet to hit screens in China. In addition, the festival will feature three forums where world-renowned directors, producers and filmmakers would share their experience and stories of success. To add more diversity to the Beijing International Film Festival, the organizers have added three out-of-competition activities including a documentary section, "New Focus of Chinese Films" section and "Look to the Future". Here is Huang Pei, the director of the Beijing International Film & Television Exchange Centre, talking about the goals and objectives in adding these events. This will be an opportunity for young filmmakers to showcase their first film to the public and to share their ideas and experience with filmmakers from around the world. Organizers say the festival will further consolidate the role of China as a leading Asian and world-famous film market.
