My basket was empty and the flower remained unheeded. Only now and again a sadness fell upon me, and I started up from my dream and felt a sweet trace of a strange fragrance in the south wind. That vague sweetness made my heart ache with longing and it seemed to me that is was the eager breath of the summer seeking for its completion. I knew not then that it was so near, that it was mine, and that this perfect sweetness had blossomed in the depth of my own heart. 拉宾德拉纳特·泰戈尔（1861年—1941年），印度著名诗人、文学家、社会活动家、哲学家和印度民族主义者。1861年5月7日，拉宾德拉纳特·泰戈尔出生于印度加尔各答一个富有的贵族家庭。1913年，他以《吉檀迦利》成为第一位获得诺贝尔文学奖的亚洲人。他的诗中含有深刻的宗教和哲学的见解，泰戈尔的诗在印度享有史诗的地位，代表作《吉檀迦利》、《飞鸟集》、《眼中沙》、《四个人》、《家庭与世界》、《园丁集》、《新月集》、《最后的诗篇》、《戈拉》、《文明的危机》等。
