Kawhi Leonard has won the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
Leonard beat out Draymond Green in voting Monday to become the first non-center to win the award in consecutive seasons since Dennis Rodman in the late 80s.
Green, the All-Star forward for Golden State was runner-up, while Miami center Hassan Whiteside placed third.
Leonard spoke about his win.
"I felt like we did a great job this year going in each and every game just being focused and knowing the team's game plan and personnel and just striving to stop the other team. I just hide behind them in the game, really. Just trying to play my hardest basketball. And them just having that confidence in me just makes me want to strive harder and just be the best basketball player I can be."
The Spurs player was drafted out of San Diego State in 2011, and quickly became the team's primary defensive stalwart.
He took on a larger offensive role this season and has averaged a career-high 21.2 points during the regular season.
