Claims are surfacing that banks in China are offering internships to the children of clients with deposits exceeding 500-thousand yuan.

An unnamed staff-member at a Beijing branch of an anonymous bank says that the 500-thousand-yuan deposit will allegedly grant a spot in their queue for short-term summer interns. When looking for an internship that would help job-hunting, the deposited amount needs to be higher than 10 million, according to the unnamed source.
The anonymous bank-worker adds that internships at their branch are assigned by their headquarter office. Since many are interested in the position, it is hard to say how many internships are open. However, the staff-member likes to think "the more, the better" when it comes to the children of their big depositors applying for internships.
After a two-month (sometimes a week) internship that pays little or nothing, banks will hand out reference letters to their clients' children. The anonymous bank-worker says internships at financial institutions are valued in applications to American and European universities.
