Long Legs

It’s a windy day. Kipper is wearing a red hat and a blue coat. Kipper stands by the long legs. Who has such long legs? What’s happening in this picture? What do you think will happen in the story? Kipper is surprised. He sees two big feet and long legs. ‘It is a clown on stilts,’ says Dad. ‘Two clowns on stilts,’ says Kipper. One clown is juggling six balls. ‘Wonderful,’ says Kipper. The other clown is juggling six rings. ‘Wonderful,’ says Biff. The clown bends down. He shakes Kipper’s hand. ‘Hello,’ says the clown. ‘Hello,’ says Kipper. On the way home, the wind blows Dad’s hat up into a tree. ‘We need long legs to get it down,’ says Kipper. A men lends Dad a stick. ‘I can’t get it,’ says Dad. Kipper gets on Dad’s shoulders. ‘I can’t get it,’ he says. Kipper runs back to the clowns. ‘Can you get Dad’s hat?’ he asks. ‘I’m tall, but I can’t get it,’ says the clown. The other clown lifts Kipper up. She puts him on the clown’s shoulders. ‘Now I can get it,’ says Kipper. ‘It is a long way up,’ says Dad. ‘It is a long way down,’ says Kipper.
