At her first touch of the book, Frosty feels a shiver up her spine, which rouses every cell in her body. A brief look of anxiety passes over her face. Frosty takes the book, and I follow Frosty into her room.
Frosty sits down on the tidy floor and lays the book against her bent knees. She realizes that some sort of inborn connection exists between her and the book. The book’s actual weight is much more than it looks. Its cover has an uneven surface made of a particular fibre-type material. The title, “1031”, stands out and draws instant attention.
“Sounds like Mum knew this book should belong to you, Frosty?”
“Is it really a book? It doesn’t have an author name,” I keep on asking.
“Can you imagine what’s inside?” Frosty pauses before opening the book.
“Hmm…It certainly doesn’t look like a small booklet consisting of only a few sheets,” I say.
“It definitely doesn’t seem to be a handbook either, which is usually bulky, providing instructions or lots of information, ” I continue…
“From its unusual smell and appearance, it looks more like a manuscript document with some personal marks.”
“But Mum said it was supposedly for me. With my personal marks?” Frosty makes a face at me.
She flips the book open…
She keeps flipping pages…
