As the fishing industry was developing, local people began to make other goods for merchandise trade, including grains, garments, embroideries, furs and brass products. Today, the harbours and the surrounding shore areas have been developed into active marketplaces. Different types of people, at home and abroad, regardless of their social ranks, all gather here to look for something they need. Most come here for valuable or bargains. Neverthess, some are here to purchase smuggled tobacco or ivory at low prices, which is made possible by avoiding tariffs and other taxation.
Looking for any information related to treasures or sea islands, Frosty and I decide to take a walk to the district marketplace that is not far away from where we live. As usual, Woof follows quite happily behind.
It is a Saturday morning in a late autumn. The colourful leaves fall gently, settling on a wet ground covered with morning dew. It is a quiet neighbourhood as we walk towards the port area. When we get closer, we start to see wagons, vans and horse carriages moving down the narrow lanes. There is no divided pavement, so Frosty and I focus on walking without speaking, watching out for passing traffic.
We finally get to a public square next to the port, which already has a large crowd in the morning hours. This place is filled with booths, stalls and magical objects. Vendors are good at sales techniques, trying to sell everything imaginable. Frosty and I just ramble around, listening to people who talks about all kinds of stuff. Among them, a pretty woman, holding a black cat in her arms, tries to sell a bracelet to Frosty. I notice that, instead of becoming frightened to our dog, the cat pays close attention to my sister.
The blended smell of food and smoke must have attracted Woof to a cottage that stands on a corner outside the square. Frosty and I follow the dog……
