And do you know some famous scenic spots in South Africa? Location South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa (RSA), is the southernmost country in Africa. It is bounded on the south by 2,798 kilometres of coastline of Southern Africa stretching along the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans, on the north by the neighbouring countries of Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, and on the east and northeast by Mozambique and Swaziland, and surrounding the kingdom of Lesotho.(李敏) Language South Africa is a multiethnic society encompassing a wide variety of cultures,languages, and religions. Its pluralistic makeup is reflected in the constitution's recognition of 11official languages, which is among the highest number of any country in the world. Two of these languages are of European origin: Afrikaans developed from Dutc and serves as the first language of most white and coloured. South Africans English reflects the legacy of British colonialism, and is commonly used in public and commercial life, though it is fourth-ranked as a spoken first language.(耀华) South Africa is called “the Rainbow Nation”, do you know the reasons? First,South Africa has nearly seven months of sunshine. Since the air is fresh, the sky ofen show rainbow after the rain.But the most important reason is that the color of South African people and colorful culture. South African has a complex ethnic structure. White ,black, yellow, variegated people constitute a unique landscape of South Africa. In this country ,the largest population is blacks of South Africa, followed by whites and mestizos. There are nine black tribes, including the largest number of primitive tribes Zulu. Zulu people are very good at dancing, so far, it still remains many traditional customs.(李敏) Speaking of South Africa, you have to understand their fascinating culture, South Africa has a wealth of cultural treasures. From the Gallery of Modern Art to the ancient rock art, from the world's first museum to the peculiar cultural village, from jazz clubs to open-air music festival, everywhere filled with a unique style composed by art, history and culture.(李敏) At the same time, you also need to know the religious taboo in South Africa. 80 percent of people are Christian; for them, the most taboo is 13 and Friday, they try to avoid going out on this day and they hate the number 13.
