A numeracy "check-up" has been created as part of a plan – backed by the Government – to raise skill levels among millions of adults across the UK.
The move comes after research found that significant numbers of people are being held back by a poor grasp of maths, with many struggling to help with their children's homework, weigh and measure ingredients and calculate change in shops.
It was claimed that poor maths skills could be costing the UK economy more than £20billion a year.
