Today is liqiu, the Start of Autumn. It is the 13th solar term of the year, and the first one of autumn. It falls on August 7, 8 or 9 each year.
From this day on, the autumn season begins. The weather will still be hot for some time. But it tends to cool down. It is a busy time for farmers.
We have the customs of “sticking autumn fat”, eating lotus roots and enjoying the beautiful gardenia and jasmine flowers.
