【节气3】Awakening of Insects 惊蛰  The thunder of early spring is calling. Some insects and animals wake up from the winter sleep, yawn and stretch. Time to get up and move about!      Today is jingzhe, the Awakening of Insects. It is the 3rd solar term of the year. It falls on March 5 or 6 each year. “Jing (惊)” means awaken, “zhe (蛰)” stands for insects and animals in winter sleep.       The weather is getting warmer. With the lovely spring rain, it is a good time for planting. The peaches are going to blossom.        We have the custom of eating pears during the Awakening of Insects. They are tasty and good for our health.
