Today is qingming, the Clear and Bright. It is the 5th solar term. It falls around April 4 each year.
During this period, days are clear and bright. It’s a good time to go picnicking, go hiking and fly kites.
The first day of the Clear and Bright is also a traditional Chinese festival, Qingming Festival orTomb-Sweeping Day.
One of the most important activities on this day is to clean the tombs and honor ancestors. In some parts of China, people often eat qingtuan, or green cake. It is a kind of sweet green rice ball with bean paste inside.
