英文原稿
So you're a first-time freshman in college. You want to have fun, but you want people to take you seriously. You need to earn good grades, especially if you’re on scholarship,so you need to learn how to balance your social life with your academics. You need to make sure you’re preparing for the world after college, too. If it sounds like a lot of responsibility and work, that’s because it is.
College is full of opportunities to get involved in something you enjoy. Clubs, interest societies, sports teams, and academic groups all offer opportunities to get to know like-minded people, who might change your life or become part of your life.
But you also need to understand the importance of failure. Part of becoming a successful college student is accepting that things won’t always work out the way you want them to. You won’t be good at everything you try. You will have experiences that totally bomb. But view these as opportunities for growth.
Ditch any perfectionistic tendencies you have. While you may believe they’re a sign of ambition or a strong work ethic, perfectionism can actually hold you back from success and happiness. Perfectionism can stem from the fear of appearing weak or vulnerable. It holds you to unrealistic standards and asks you to interpret anything other than perfection as “failure.” It can even lead to procrastination because you’re so terrified of not doing a perfect job. Nobody is perfect. And you are not either, and that’s totally fine.
