Task 4
Emotion Intelligence refers to the ability of people to recognize their true feelings and understand what is causing them. The professor used her daughter as an example. His daughter once invited her friend to come over and watch a movie together. But later they could not agree on what to watch. At first, his daughter was upset. However, later, she cooled herself down, and thought about why she was like this, using emotion intelligence. She then realized that her actions were inappropriate, and she was not upset her friend. She was actually upset about her new job as a counselor for small kids. She was overwhelmed because she had never been with kids before, and she wanted them to like her. After figuring out this, they stopped arguing. His daughter apologized to her friend, and explained the reasons. Her friend then encouraged her, saying she did a good job. Then they relaxed and had fun together, just like normal. In this case, emotion intelligence helped the daughter corrected her actions and maintained a good relationship with her friends.
