今天是3月8日国际妇女节，Happy International Women’s Day, everyone！
妇女节自20世纪初期确立到今日，已经有了百余年的时间。世界为什么仍然需要妇女节？有“六大原因”！
一、世界仍需妇女节的“六大原因”
01. Reason 1——Forced Marriage强迫婚姻
28 girls a minute are being forced to marry against their will.
全球范围内，每分钟，有28名女孩，被强迫结婚。
据联合国妇女权能署（UN Women）数据统计，现如今有多于250 million（2.5亿）的女孩被强迫结婚before their 15th birthday，15岁前。

02. Reason 2 ——Violence暴力
World Health Organization（世界卫生组织WHO）数据统计显示：
1 in 3 women will experience violence.
全球范围内，平均每3个中有一名女性，会遭受暴力。
这种暴力既有physical 身体上的，也有sexual abuse。

03. Reason 3 ——Lack of Education教育缺失
181 million girls and young women are not in education, employment or training.
全球约有1.8亿年轻女子，没有受教育，没有工作，没有培训。
英国用一个term（专有名词）来指这种情况：Neets (“not in education,employment or training”的缩写)。
当女孩miss out on education，缺失教育， forced marriage（强迫婚姻）, trafficking（人口拐卖） and poverty（贫穷）这些风险都会增加。
Education is the key to a successful future and hopeful life.
教育，是这些女孩有个成功未来的关键，也是生活有希望的关键。

72 countries don’t allow women to open a bank account.
全球有72个国家，不允许妇女开银行账户。
没有金钱的自由，就意味着much less freedom and independence，更少的自由和独立。

05. Reason 5——Body Dissatisfaction外貌焦虑
1 in 10 women have self-harmed because of their body image.
十个女性中，就有一个会因为自己的外表，而自我伤害。
很多女性都会有外貌焦虑，她们会因为社会和周围的人用（a certain way）某种特定的眼光来看自己，而感受到巨大的pressure压力。
所以，我们平时对身边的女性，要多一些encouraging（鼓励），少一些judgement（评判）。

06. Reason 6——Human Trafficking 人口拐卖
Most victims （79%）of human trafficking are women. 人口拐卖受害者中，79%是女性
此信息is based on data gathered from 155 countries （根据全球155个国家提供的数据）
这些女性同胞的灾难与困境，happen all around the world，只是，生活在和平国家的我们，并没有realizing or knowing it is happening。

二、妇女节的正确打开方式 The good way to celebrate
Why should men care about women’s day? 男生为什么应当重视妇女节？
- There are many women in your life.
You must show your support to bring about real change in the world.
在三八妇女节这天，广大的男性朋友们，可以借此机会，提醒自己：
从古到今，从东到西，千百年来，女性从各个角度来讲，都很不容易。应该对身边的女性给予充分的尊重与理解，在家庭中帮助女性多承担一些，help them carry the burden。在日常生活中，男性应有担当、有理想、有行动，积极进取，刚健不息。
女生们呢，How should we celebrate Women’s Day?
从女性角度来讲，我们要充分理解到“我们是一个家庭、乃至社会的灵魂”，在此基础上，我们女性，要进行充分的成长自我。 有知识、有技能，有智慧，宁静从容，厚德载物。
女同胞们，今天，我们除了买礼物，网上消费，也许还有更有意义的妇女节过法：
Reach out to the women in your life who have inspired you. 联系那些激励过你的女性。
Call, text, send a card or email a woman who you know who has had an impact on your life.
联系那个对你人生有过影响的女性（也许是亲戚、导师、老师、朋友、同事…），打电话、信息、寄卡片、邮件都可以。
3. 看看身边有没有需要帮助的女性，为她提供一定的帮助，可以是精神的、语言的，或者物质的。
