This idea is ridiculous! It’s like you’re obese, and it makes you extremely tired once a week, but it is tolerable now. However, if you want to lose weight, it requires a lot of effort and a complete change of diet, and the process is long. So instead of losing weight, you choose to get used to that weekly tiredness, even though that means you will become even fatter and get tired more often. It’s like the ostrich that hides its head in the sand instead of facing the problem. And it shows you’re an immature person and irresponsible to your health.

The idea in discussion sounds rather unconvincing. By analogy, an obese man who suffers extreme fatigue once a week is advised to get used to this annoyance, because, first, the tiredness is tolerable now, second, to address obesity requires enormous time in the gym and sacrifice of sugar, snacks, etc. It is an approach an ostrich takes in facing a challenge: hiding its head in the sand so it won’t see what is to occur next, which is, in this case: growing weight and more frequent fatigue. Likewise, it is pure self-deception to advocate for adaption and against action to the threat that climate change poses to us.
