Machine vision is useful in making and quality control because it can direct robots in specific tasks and detect subtle defects in products in less time than human inspectors. A bottling company, for example, may use machine vision to insure that containers are sound or that labels are affixed correctly. Most machine-visions use a standard 640-by-480-pixel grid for comparing images.
