After a long hiatus induced by COVID-19, Cirque du Soleil, the company that reinvented traditional circus arts is returning to Toronto in April 2022 with the show titled, Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities.
Premiered in Montreal in 2014, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities is Cirque du Soleil’s 35th production since 1984.
The production follows the ‘Seeker,’ who becomes convinced that a fantastical, invisible dimension exists in another realm, in which all life’s most unbelievable possibilities are lying in wait. As this world merges with reality, a parade of otherworldly characters suddenly steps into the spotlight, bringing the Seeker’s imagined realm into being.
Cirque du Soleil will set up their iconic big white top at Ontario Place and KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities is scheduled to run until Victoria Day starting April 14, 2022.
Originally composed of 20 street performers in 1984, Cirque du Soleil Entertainment shows were seen by over 190 million spectators with productions presented in close to 450 cities in 60 countries.
What is KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities?
Cabinet of curiosities is a tale in which time comes to a complete stop, transporting the audience inside a fantasy world where everything is possible. In this realm set in the latter half of the nineteenth century, reality is quite relative indeed as our perception of it is utterly transformed. The name of the show refers to the humble and strange characters that inhabit the Seeker’s Cabinet of Curiosities.
