除夕是指每年农历腊月的最后一天的晚上，它与春节(正月初一)首尾相连。“除夕”中的“除”字是“去;易;交替”的意思，除夕的意思是“月穷岁尽”，人们都要除旧部新，有旧岁至此而除，来年另换新岁的意思，是农历全年最后的一个晚上。故此期间的活动都围绕着除旧部新，消灾祈福为中心。

今天就是除夕了，今天，Camellia 就和大家聊一聊那些不为我们熟知的除夕习俗吧。
1.不汲水
过年有“不汲水”的禁忌，家有水井的人家 要在除日黄昏前“封井”，给水井加上木盖，供奉糕点以后 焚香拜祭，三日后方可开盖复用。

2.踩岁活动
除夕夜，我国民间还要举行踩岁活动，即在院内将芝麻秆粘上用黄纸卷成的元宝形，攒成一捆，谓之“聚宝盆”。然后，全家人用脚将其踩碎，以“碎”谐“岁”，并借用芝麻开花节节高之吉祥寓意，祝愿家道兴旺，表达对新的一年的祝福和祈盼。
3.开灯睡觉
除夕晚上睡觉的时候，是不能关灯的，只能到年初一 天亮才能关灯。除夕整个晚上，家里一般都不关灯，特别是供养祖先的屋子更是不能关灯。

说到习俗，不得不说一说节日禁忌。
人们在除夕到来时，一面欢度佳节，喜庆丰收，一面洗澡更衣、打扫卫生，以驱疫病、除恶鬼。民间流传除夕的禁忌：
1.福字不能倒贴.The blessing can not be posted, the door is the place to welcome the blessing, the blessing should be posted. The place where the blessings are placed is generally a water tank and a garbage bin.
2.忌倒污水、倒垃圾、丢弃杂物、扫地、洒水。据说这样不小心就会溅洒到神灵身上，如果神灵恼怒就会降祸于人。
3.忌说不吉利的字眼。Avoid saying unlucky words.
4.过年期间鱼是必备菜，曰“有余”。吃鱼时，应将头尾留下不吃，这样就表示来年不仅有吃穿，还有剩余。
