Once upon a time, there lived a man who loved his youngest child the most. He called her Beauty. She sang beautifully and tried to make her father happy. Her sisters only thought of themselves.
很久很久以前，有一个男人，他非常爱他的小女儿。他叫她贝儿。贝儿唱歌也很好听，总是能把爸爸逗得很开心，而她的姐姐们却很自私，整天只想着自己。
One day, when Father left for the city, he asked Beauty, "What shall I bring home for you?"
有一天，爸爸要去城里办事，他问贝儿：“你想要什么样的礼物呢？”
She answered, "Just cone home safely."
她回答说，“我不要什么礼物，只要爸爸平安回来就好。”
This pleased her father, but he asked again.
这让她的爸爸感到很开心，但是他还是问了一遍。
"Well, Father," she said, "since you insist upon it, please bring me a single rose. "
“好吧，爸爸，”她说，“如果你坚持要给我带礼物的话，就给我带一支玫瑰吧。”
On his way home, as Father plucked a rose from a castle's garden, he heard a voice oar, "You thief! How dare you steal from me!" The beast stalked toward him and said, "for this you must die."
在回家的路上，爸爸在城堡花园里折了一支玫瑰，这是他听见了一声低吼，“你这个小偷！你竟然敢偷我的东西！”野兽走近他，说：“你偷了我的东西，你必须得死！”
"Forgive me, noble sir." Begged the father, "My dear daughter asked me to bring her a rose. Please spare my life, for I am all she had in this world."
“原谅我吧，先生。”爸爸哀求道，“我最爱的小女儿让我给她带回去一支玫瑰，您就饶了我吧，失去了我，我的小女儿在这个世界上独身一人该怎么办呢。”
The beast cried, "Take her the rose then. But you must pay for your crime. You may die or you may send your daughter back to me. But she must come on her own."
野兽大声吼道：“那你就把这支玫瑰带给她吧，但是你必须为此付出代价。你要么用生命换这支玫瑰，要么让她来我的城堡。但是你要把这件事告诉你的女儿，让她自己决定怎么做。”
Beauty, of course, went to the castle.
贝儿决定去城堡。
"Have you come here willingly, on your own?" asked the Beast.
“你是自愿来的吗？”野兽问。
Beauty bravely said, "Yes, and I will stay."
贝儿勇敢地说：“当然，我愿意留下来。”
He showed her a magic mirror in which she could always see her father. And the Beast treated her with gentle kindness and fulfilled her every wish.
他给了她一个魔镜，这样贝儿就可以随时从魔镜里看到她的爸爸了。野兽对贝儿很好，满足了她很多愿望。
They grew quite fond of each other. Soon,they were dear friends. Then one night, Beauty said, "oh, dear Beast, today I saw in the mirror that Father is sick. I must go care for him."
他们越来越喜欢彼此，很快他们就十分亲密了。有一天晚上，贝儿对野兽说，“哦，亲爱的野兽，今天我从魔镜里看到我的爸爸生病了。我必须回去照顾他。”
The Beast said, "Then go, my dear, but hurry back. If you can't return within a month's time, I will surely die."
野兽说：“去吧，亲爱的贝儿，但是一定要快点回来。如果你一个月之内赶不回的话，我会死的。”
Beauty's father had never expected to see her again. Soon he was well. Beauty said that she had grown to love the Beast.
贝儿的爸爸从来没想过还能再见到贝儿。很快，爸爸就痊愈了。贝儿说她渐渐地喜欢上野兽了。
"I must go back, Father, "she said. You don't need me any longer, but he does." They sadly bid farewell yet again.
“我必须走了，爸爸，”她说，“你已经不需要我在你身边照顾你了，但是他需要。”他们遗憾地道了别。
When she returned, he asked, "Beauty, will you marry me?"
当她回到城堡的时候， 他问：“贝儿，你愿意嫁给我吗？”
She said, "Yes, my Beast."

He instantly changed into a handsome prince.
野兽立即变成了一个英俊的王子。
He said, "I was cursed to be a beast until I found true love."

Beauty looked into his eyes and said, "You have found it."
贝儿深情地看着他，说：“你找到真爱了。”
And they lived happily ever after.
