Plan means a decision about what someone is going to do. In the book, Wizard decides what to do to get the girls out of the clubhouse. Then he tells his friends that he has a plan.

Empty means containing nothing. When the boys in the book go to the store to get boxes, they get “empty boxes.” That means they get boxes that have nothing in them. Hold out your hand with the palm up. Your hand has nothing in it. That means your hand is empty!
