新题讲解之 “历史古迹"

Describe a historic building that interests you. You should say: where it is; what it is used for; how you know about this place; and explain how you feel about it. Historic vs. historical Building vs. structure vs. architecture One of the my favourite historic places is our city museum, which is located in the heart of downtown xx（name of your city). It’s been there for over eighty years, so I assume everyone in the city knows about it. I went inside quite a few times, mostly when I was in primary school, you know, schools always organise this sort of study trips as a means of fostering patriotism. As for how I felt about it, first of all, I think it serves vital purposes as far as education is concerned. The building was built in the 30s, so it is a valuable asset for historians and architects to study what the city was like at that period of time. On top of that, all the collections displayed in the museum can help make education more interesting, coz they bring students into contact with the abstract history knowledge they learn in school. At least this was how I felt when I was a student, I didn’t like our history classes, I thought they were deadly dull. But I enjoyed every museum tour we had, I thought the things our ancestors created were magnificent and mind-blowing. Besides, the building is an iconic landmark of the city, and is pleasant to look at. I mean, China has been developing at an enormous speed, and the downside is that every city has become a concrete jungle, and they all look alike. I am glad that we’ve preserved some buildings like this that can make our city unique. So when I have friends coming over from other places, I always take them to the museum, you know, at least take a glance at this old and beautiful building.
