“The world is more interconnected（互联的） than ever before. And it is becoming more connected everyday. Building walls won’t change that. Isolating（隔离）or disparaging(蔑视) Muslims, suggesting that they should be treated differently when it comes to entering this country, that is not just a betrayal（背叛）of our values… that’s not just a betrayal of who we are…it would alienate（疏远）the very communities(社区) at home and abroad who are our most important partners in the fight against violent extremism（暴力极端主义）. Suggesting that we can build an endless wall along our borders and blame our challenges on immigrants, that doesn’t just run counter to（违背）our history as the world’s “melting pot”（大熔炉）, it contradicts（违反）the evidence that our growth and our innovation and our dynamism（活力） has always been spurred（推动）by our ability to attract strivers（奋斗者）from every corner of the globe.
