So let me ask you some questions to warm up...
Do you have a regular fitness program?
Do you ever play sports? How often do you play them?
Do you ever take long walks? How often? Where do you go?
I don't often take long walk, but I sometimes walk to the graveyard in my town because it's very beautiful.
Who's your favorite athlete and why?
Do you ever watch sports on TV?
Which ones?
And the last question!
What are two sports that you DON'T like?
I don't like watching boxing or boat racing on TV ... I think it's very boring.
Lots of popular sports are a bit violent
I like weight lifting in the gym, but I don't like watching it on TV.
Fitness Freak ... what do you think it means?
Sounds like a lot of fun!
So let's look at Section 11 quickly
There are some good words there
Couch Potato\Fitness Freak\Sports Fan
We also have the word "Buff" And "Lover"
Couch Potato is actually a negative word here
So "fan" is used with sports
You can also say "I'm a big fan of ......" which is another way to say you like something.
What is something that you're a fan of?
I'm a big soccer fan. I'm also a fan of hamburgers.
I'm a big fan of cooking my own food.
"Freak" is often used for someone who REALLY REALLY loves something, almost to an unhealthy level
He's a Anime freak.
And the word "buff" we almost always use with movies
I'm a movie buff
Means that I'm really interested and knowledgeable about movies and films
That's the basic idea
We can continue studying them tomorrow at the beginning of class
They're good words!
