Today we're going to talk about Leisure activities
So how would we say this in a sentence?
There is a simple way: I like to _________________ for fun.
"..... for fun" means "I do (activity) to enjoy myself"
So what other activities can you add to this list?
What else do you like to do for fun?
Okay good ... everyone seems to understand the idea
Did you do anything special?
Did you do anything special is the name of the conversation
It's not a real question!
So ... any questions about this conversation?
The question, "Did you do anything special?" is very common in English.
We say this a lot to each other.
Did you do anything special last weekend?
I went to a concert with some friends and saw a great band.
Did you do anything special last weekend?
Try answering the question :)
So to answer questions about the past well, we need to know both the "regular" and "irregular" verbs
Regular verbs .... the past tense we just add "-ed" to the end
Irregular verbs ... the past tense is a whole now word.
So if I ask you the question... "Did you work on Saturday?"
The question DEFINITELY means last Saturday.
Because it's a past tense question, of course it means the Saturday that has passed.
No I didn't ... I didn't work at all
What did your parents do on Sunday?
They cooked on Sunday
For homework, I want you to practice making past tense sentences
By completing all the questions in Section A
Then, with your partner...
Ask and answer the questions using your OWN information
A: What did you do on Saturday?
B: I went bowling with a bunch of friends. Then we had dinner at a bar.
