Quantifiers!
"How many" and "how much"
Many is used for count, or non-count nouns?
How many groccery stores are there in your neighborhood?
Okay, we did the example
Now let's talk about question #1
There are many apartment buildings in my neighborhood.
This isn't very difficult, but it's good to practice
Because it's also something that people make mistakes about frequently [微笑]
If you want to say "none"
How many dance clubs are there (in your neighborhood)?
There are no dance clubs in my neighborhood
There aren't any.
Are there many pay phones in your neighborhood?
Payphones are really not common anymore, as everyone has a cell phone
Only in bus stations and airports
Is there much pollution in your neighborhood?
Yes... we call that "exhaust"
How many swimming pools are there?
I think everyone is doing OK!
One last one
And this one is a big problem for lots of people
"Is there much parking? (in your neighborhood)
That's why this question is a little difficult
"Parking Lot" is 停车场
That is countable
But "parking" by itself is non-countable noun
Parking in neighborhoods is very difficult to find in many neighborhoods
Ask me questions about my neighborhood...
Use these nouns:
There isn't any public transportation in my city.

The reading is about a neighborhood in New York City, called "Astoria"
Astoria used to be mostly a Greek neighborhood.
But now it's changed a lot.
So the homework is to finish the reading about Astoria
