Ordered a cake FOR my son's father
My wife and I also spent a lot of money buying gifts today.
We bought two very nice watches for my cousin and her husband.
Their wedding reception is in a few weeks.
Now I have no money left in the bank
@Phoebe-liuzhou
I TOOK my daughter to dance class.
Then I DID the homework.
Right of way 优先通行权
When a person walks across the street, they have the right of way. This means that cars have to stop to let people cross the street.
@rose
You can say:
It is a step in the right direction.
It is a step towards a more cultured and civilized society.
In the way - this means that something is blocking the way
For example:
I am walking towards a door. But there is a table between me and the door. The table is in the way.
We do things well
Something is good
Well is used to describe actions
Good is used to describe things
@rose
Please send us the text of your recipe.
And then read it to us.
@Jane
We looked at how to write recipes this week.
If you think it's difficult, don't worry. You can still try!
If we don't try, we won't be able to improve.
Listen to Rose and Phoebe first and then try!
@rose
Let's hear Phoebe first. She has already sent us her recipe.
@rose
You can try after Phoebe. Ok?
Thanks for understanding
spareribs - diced
salt - to taste
pork lean - 100 grams
soy sauce - 10 grams (we don't use grams to talk about a liquid)
ginger - sliced
brown sugar - 20 grams
edible oil (we cannot say 'a few oil')
boiled water (we cannot say 'a few water’)
two aniseeds
For liquids, we don't use grams
We can say:
1 teaspoon
2 tablespoons
5 ml (毫升)
Etc.
For liquids, we cannot use 'a few'
We can use:
1 teaspoon
2 tablespoons
5 ml (毫升)
Etc.
Or, if we don't know the amount, we can say 'some'
Spareribs with brown sauce
First boil the spareribs IN water AND drain it when the water is boiling.
Then (chop?) the brown sugar, put it into the boiling oil until IT MELTS.
Next put the spareribs, ginger, soy sauce and a little salt into the MELTED sugar, mix all THE ingredients together and cook for a while.
After that, add two aniseeds and some BOILING WATER water into it and cook for 30 minutes.
Finally, put them on the plate and enjoy!
Boiled water - this means the water was boiled before. But it might be cold now.
Boiling water - this water is still boiling. It is still hot.
@Phoebe-liuzhou
I understand what you mean about the brown sugar now. If the sugar is in big pieces, we can chop it into a powder.
It might be better to use the word 'grind'
We grind things into a powder.
Grind 被磨碎
You did VERY VERY well!
Small mistakes are fine!
I understood the recipe!
That is what is important!
@rose
Your turn!
First,put the cucumber slices.
Then mix a tablespoon salt,3/4 peper,1/4suger together.
Next 2 garlic mashed ,put all these on the cucumber.
After that ,boiling 2 tablespoon oil on the garlir.
Finally,you can enjoy it.
First, slice the cucumber.
Then mix 1 tablespoon of salt, 3/4 (of what?) PEPPER, 1/4 (of what?) SUGAR together.
Next 2 garlic mashed, put all these on the cucumber.
After that, BOIL 2 tablespoons OF oil on the GARLIC.
Finally, enjoy it.
Three quarters of what?
A quarter of what?
What is the full amount?
Is it three quarters of a tablespoon?
Next, put the 2 mashed garlic on the cucumber slices.
@rose
Do you understand my corrections?
@Jane
Your recipe looks really interesting!
But unfortunately I have to teach another class now!
I will do the corrections and send them to you later, is that ok?
@Jane
