A girl I know is preparing for her IELTS (雅思). I said to her: “how about I’ll help you prepare?” She said, “If you’re trying to hit on me, don’t bother, you won’t succeed.” What did she mean by hit on me? She meant 如果你想撩我,那就别浪费力气了,你不会成功”. So I replied, “ You really think I’m trying to hit on you? I’m just trying to improve my Chinese through talking to you.”
有一个我认识的女孩在准备考雅思。我说“我帮你吧,怎么样?”她回复:If you’re trying to hit on me, don’t bother, 你不会成功的。hit on me 就是想撩我的意思。don’t bother 是别浪费力气。我回复“你真的以为我是想hit on you? 我只是想当个语伴顺便进步自己的中文”
What do you think of my reply? Should I have been very direct (直接)and said something like “you’ll change your mind”?
