Hello, everyone! This is “A Song for the Night”, a pop music programme in English for the ardent lovers of music across the country. I’m Bob Zong in Shenzhen, China.
"Scarborough Fair" is a traditional English ballad ['bæləd] about the Yorkshire ['jɔ:kʃiə] town of Scarborough ['skɑ:bərə].
Let's take a look at the lyrics:
Scarborough Fair
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley ['pɑ:sli] , sage, rosemary ['rəuzməri], and thyme [taim]
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
Tell her to make me a cambric ['kæmbrɪk] shirt
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Without no seams nor needlework
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Tell her to find me an acre of land
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Between the salt water and the sea strand
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
And to gather it all in a bunch of heather
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
Here comes the original soundtrack of the 1968 movie the Graduate, sung by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.
