The Farmer and His Sons A farmer,who realized that he was on his deathbed,called his selfish sons to him. ‘’I am about to leave you,‘’he murmured, ‘’but I have something for you.Dig up your vineyard and share everything you find there.‘’ The sons thought that the father had meant a hidden treasure and thus, the moment he died, they began to hoe and dig at a furious pace. They did not find any treasure, for there was none to find.But the earth in the vineyard,hoed and dug so thoroughly,produced an enormous quantity of excellent grapes that year. They were all happy for the grapes. ‘’Our father didn’t leave us any treasure,‘’ said the bigger brother. ‘’But he indeed taught us to live by ourselves which is also precious,‘’ said the little brother significantly. The clever father left the real treasure for the sons.
