Can there be loyalty which does not lead to the instruction of its object?" The Master said, "In preparing the governmental notifications, P'i Shan first made the rough draft;
忠焉，能勿诲乎？”子曰：“为命，裨谌草创之；
Shi-shu examined and discussed its contents; Tsze-yu, the manager of foreign intercourse, then polished the style; and, finally, Tsze-ch'an of Tung-li gave it the proper elegance and finish."
世叔讨论之；行人子羽修饰之；东里子产润色之。”
Someone asked about Tsze-ch'an, the Master said, "He was a kind man." He asked about Tsze-hsi, the Master said, "That man! That man!" He asked about Kwan Chung,
