Speakers:

Passion project is made up of the same fundamental values, and that is:
1) you identify a need or a problem in the community;
2) you evaluate a way to solve that problem through research, either through interviews, surveys or simple observation;
3) you implement the findings from that research to make the change to solve the problem that you found initially. This can be done very easily in the exact same community where many of the high school students may be living.
The beauty of this project overall is that it compensates the three characteristics that makes you a well-round student:
1) leadership, because this is the student&`&s idea and project that they are coming up with on their own with our guidance of course, but it is something that they are inspired to do on their own;
2) community service, because they are coming up with a project that has an absolute solution, something for which they can make changes in their community;
3) research experience, which is not always limited to the laboratories, researches using the scientific method to analyze data, to calculate statistics, in order to find a meaningful relationship, to be applied again to make a difference in the community.

Students will be engaged in a number of meetings as well as lectures. During the process, students will then learn how to develop the project, develop the hypothesis, go out to collect the data, do surveys or webinars, be able to synthesize and analyze the information, and then present the act to the community leaders. The final deliverable will be a PowerPoint presentation, as well as a written report, in the standardized research format, which will be presented to the community partners, who may be school leaders, or administrator in a hospital, all of which will depend on the student’s interest.
