一、一般现在时的动作时间是现在，动作状态是一般，“一般”有三个含义：经常性或者习惯性动作，表示现在的状态能力性格，还可以表示客观真理。
二、动词形式
实意动词：1.动词原形；2.如果主语是第三人称单数，则动词用三单形式；
be 动词： am, is, are，其中第三人称单数形式是 is。
三、基本用法
1)经常性或习惯性的动作，常与表示频度的时间状语连用，如： every…, sometimes, at…, on Sunday等。
The boy eats lots of chocolate every day.
2)现在的状态、能力、性格。
Jack writes English well.
杰克的英语书面表达能力很好。
3)客观真理，客观存在。
The earth moves around the sun. 地球绕着太阳。
