Chen: In the story, the girl was chased by the male lead for 8 years. And he did so much for her. Like he would accompany her to study every night. And then a lot of time, they would talk on phone at night. It&`&s very hard to imagine this kind of love story in real life.
Isn&`& it way different from the Taiwanese story that you might see in a film ?
Chen: Yes, very different. I think because it&`&s a true story and that makes a very big difference. Cause the director, he is the script writer, it&`&s his own story. So we get to hear him talking about what happened in the past a lot.
For whatever reason, You Are the Apple of My Eye struck a note with young audiences in several different countries.
Chen: We did really good box office in Singapore, in Malaysia, in China, especially in HK, like we&`&re historically No.1 box office for Chinese movies in HK, and that for us was very surprising. We all feel very blessed that happened. It&`&s very unexpected, it&`&s beyond our imagination.
