-Make it hot for someone------刁难某人
-中文里，我们常用“烫手山芋”来比喻一个很棘手的问题，把烫手山芋丢给某人就是故意刁难某人的意思。英语里也有类似的表达，make it hot for someone，意思就是让某人难受，刁难某人。如果是上下级之间，就相当于我们说的给某人穿小鞋了。我们来听一下例句：
-I don't want to make it hot for you. But I won't tell you the true story of that till you return the letter to me.
-我不想刁难你，但如果你不还给我那封信，我就不会告诉你那件事的实情。
-Dick threatened to make it hot for anyone who messed up his video tapes again.
-迪克威吓说，如果谁再把他的录像带弄得乱七八糟，他就叫他吃不了兜着走。
-话到嘴边(一时想不起来)-----On the tip of my tongue
-心理学上有种说法是“舌尖效应”，话到嘴边想不起来或是说不出来，相信你也有过类似的经历吧？On the tip of my tongue就是形容这种尴尬的现象。我们来听一下例句吧。
-His name is on the tip of my tongue, but I just can't think of it.

-再比如：
-President Jackson , no, oh, it's on the tip of my tongue - president Jefferson, that's it.
-杰克逊总统，哦，不对，我知道的，可怎么一时说不出了，杰斐逊总统，这下对了。
-其实这是潜意识的作用，心理学家建议当遇到这种想不起来的时刻，不要一直盯着这件事想，轻松一点，过段时间就能想起来，也可以试着把所有想到的事情写下来，可能就会回忆起说不出的那个名字或词语

1. 解词释义
See eye to eye这个俚语的字面意思是“眼睛对着眼睛”，比喻“同意对方的意见和想法”。如果表示“针对某事有共识，对某事看法一致”，用see eye to eye on something，相当于agree on something。

show one’s true colors
1. 解词释义
Show one’s true colors的意思是“终于看清某人的真面目”“某人露出真面目而显露本性”。True color的意思是“真正的你”。True是“真实的”的意思，color可以指“色彩，人的内在，人的心情”，先出真正的色彩，也就是显示其本性。Show one’s true color的意思即为：露出真面目，露出真实的品质或性格。还有一个意思是“宣布或表明立场或观点或计划或打算”
A: Terry, you see, that lady is quarreling with others in dirty words. But she is usually gentlewomanly.

Ps：Things are fine just as they are. 这个句子的意思表示让事情保持原有状态就行了，不要去破坏它。
put sb. out
1. 解词释义
Put out在这里的意思是“打搅，使......不方便，麻烦某人”。它还有其他的意思：激怒，使忧虑，使困扰。
A: Don’t worry. I will try my best to persuade the manager not to fire you.
别担心，我会尽力劝说经理不要开除你。
B: Please don’t go to so much trouble. I don’t want to put you out.
请不要那费那么多功夫，我不想给你添麻烦。

e.g. He was plainly very put out at finding her there.

Ps ：go to trouble的意思是“麻烦，费力”。例如：
John told Mr. Brown not to go to trouble of driving him home.
约翰告诉布朗先生不必麻烦开车送他回家。
Please don't go to so much trouble about me, or I'll feel I'm being treated as a stranger.
你对我这样客气，倒有点见外了。
Okay, but don't go to a lot of trouble on my account.
